How to Balance Your Doshas in Late Spring
By Mel, 500-hour RYT · Well With Melo
Late spring is a season of transition, as Kapha's heaviness lifts and Pitta's heat begins to rise. Here are simple ways to find balance, whatever you're feeling.
Feeling anxious, sleeping poorly or dealing with digestion issues? Balance Vata
Grounding meditation
Sit for a few minutes each day and imagine roots growing from your body deep into the earth. It's a simple way to calm restlessness.
Warm, nourishing foods
Favour cooked, warm meals with healthy fats like ghee or coconut oil: soups, stews and root vegetables.
Irritable, frustrated or breaking out? Balance Pitta
Cooling breath
Try Sheetali or Sitkari, inhaling through a curled tongue or through your teeth to cool the body and calm the mind.
Hydrate and cool
Sip cooling herbal teas and enjoy juicy fruits like watermelon and cucumber. Go easy on spicy, heating foods.
Feeling heavy or low on energy? Balance Kapha
Energizing movement
Brisk walks, cycling or a dynamic yoga practice help wake up the body and get energy moving.
Lighter meals
Add bitter and astringent foods like leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables, and keep meals lighter.
Listen to your body, adjust as you go, and enjoy the energy of the season. Try some spring yoga poses for your dosha too.
